What is ENKI

European Network for Knowledge Impact (ENKI) aims:

  • To provide an automated platform which will allow research outputs describing in vivo research, and human experimental research , to be identified, categorised and evaluated;
  • To provide a simple, accessible evaluation of the quality (risks of bias) of individual research outputs.

Our purpose is to qualify the impact of research in the context of possible risks of bias and provide quantitative data to underpin strategies to improve the quality of biomedical research within Europe.

Our Objectives

Overarching Objective

The overarching objective is to provide stake holders in biomedical research with rapid feedback about the extent to which the research with which they are associated is at a risk of bias. Our purpose is to qualify the impact of research in the context of possible risks of bias and provide quantitative data to underpin strategies to improve the quality of biomedical research within Europe.

Key Challenges

The key challenges will be to identify research outputs for which the reporting standards are relevant, to demonstrate the validity of text mining / machine learning tools in the evaluation of research outputs, and to create a web-based platform through which research evaluations can be retrieved.

Methology

The project is to text mining/ machine learning tools to evaluate research outputs against existing community led reporting standards for biomedical research.
